LEYRD began with a feeling. Growing up around Vietnamese food, street food wasn’t just about speed; it was about care, balance, and connection. A bánh mì could be quick, affordable, and still full of soul.
But over time, especially in busy food precincts, that feeling started to disappear. Food became fast, forgettable, and disconnected from the people making it and eating it.
LEYRD was created to bring those layers back.
As founders, we wanted to build something that respected where we came from while adapting to where we are now — a modern, multicultural city shaped by movement, energy, and change. We weren’t interested in copying tradition for the sake of it, nor in chasing trends. We wanted to create food that felt honest, thoughtful, and alive.
The name LEYRD (pronounced layered) reflects that belief. Because good food — like good businesses — is built in layers: flavour, people, culture, place, and care.
Every decision, from sourcing local seafood to choosing compostable packaging, from building a warm team culture to refining each recipe, comes back to the same question: Does this feel right?
LEYRD isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention.
It’s for the early mornings, the busy days, the quick lunches that still deserve meaning. It’s for the community that supports us, the team that grows with us, and the stories shared over a simple, well-made meal.
